Tips N Tricks

1. Not only can you cut down on sulfite consumption, but you can stabilize the residual swings found in many systems by minimizing the surface area with 3/4" hi temp balls.  Contact your Crest representative.

2. Convenience chemicals have their necessary niche and may seem less expensive, but in the long run they can sometimes cost as much as 3 to 4 times as much.  Please discuss this cost cutting opportunity with your technical advisor.

3. Loop dyes are great, but don't be fooled.  Know what type is in  your system.  There are two types; phenol and non-phenol.  The phenol will fade proportionally to charge, (given pH drops as charge does), and non-phenol.  Non-phenol is by far the lesser expensive and with the phenol dye you still must have a color intensity reference.  Just because its pink doesn't mean its charged.  Better off going on pH or conductivity.

4. Another loop tip.  The cleaning chemicals most frequently used are the very same chemicals used in standard boiler chemistry.  Whether removing iron from an old system, or oils from a new system, the chemicals used are the same as your standard boiler chemicals but with a different name and a much higher price tag.  Please contact your Crest rep for more information.
